this skirt was made at the beginning of summer... i love the simplicity of it... it is so chic with a boyfriend jacket and a tank top and some nice ballerina shoes.... however on this occasion, i wore it to Atlantic City on an impromptu trip with hubby.... we are so fond of that... enjoy the adventures of the flirting skirt....
I can't believe it has already been three months since my last post.... where has time gone? well I have not an excuse on my mind except that i am a terrible blogger... :-( I made a few dresses for myself and some friends to wear to a friends wedding and kinda sad that wedding season is coming to an end, I cant wait for Christmas season so that I can stitch some more.... i have made a lot of progress however with the whole sewing thing... I am now sewing for other people... how do I make time between sewing, work, and blogging? one gotta suffer and unfortunately it is the blogging part :-(
I have missed stitching.., putting pieces together... Before the wedding, a friend of mine told me she was having her traditional wedding and sent me the fabric for the event. Traditional weddings are part of a Nigerian wedding culture in which the groom pays the dowry for hi bride... It is a big festive before the wedding...
When I saw the fabric i loved the prints and design but I wasnt sure how to design cause I didn't want to waste the fabric or lose it... So this is the idea I came up with... I am going through a phase of one-shoulder dresses and loving it...
I am so excited... Let all the minis out spring is here.... YAAY!!! My excitement has gotten the best of me this afternoon... I have been dying to wear this LITTLE DRESS I made... I can't wait to be done with the wedding so I can get back to real sewing... Everything about this dress scream romance to me... so i decided he is taking me out on a date in 30 minutes he just doesn't know it yet and will go for a long walk holding hands swinging side to side... We might even steal a dance all because of this dress... I love to wear it with different belts to cinch the waist... it brings out your shape better...
Ok... I haven't blogged in a very very long time... I am getting married in two months or other cases less... I am having two white weddings two weeks apart! Now that is heavy so I have been very busy planning instead of stitchin'... I can't wait to get back to but in the mean time I have this dress that I made from leftover fabric from an outfit I had made for a friend of mine... Perks of being a stitcher or seamstress or whatever... Back of dress
I have been too busy working and stitching and not enough time blogging... for that I apologize... I wish I could do a better job... So I came up with at least four different dresses since the last time I blogged. few things to showcase...
A friend was getting married... So this was a fabric the bride has chosen for the wedding... It is so pretty I love the simplicity of the dress and how classy it appears...
I went into this little asian fabric store and came across some very beautiful fabrics.. I came across this particular I couldn't resist. I had to get this. I paid hardly $20 for 2 yards but it was worth and had some left over fabric from a dress I made for a freind of mine. I guess the perks of sewing for others... ha ha ha... love it....
Lastly.... while I was in Walmart the other day, I went to buy my fiance some toiletries. I was innocently walking around and I came to the home craft area where I found some wool... interestingly enough bought some wool for myself to create this infinity scarf i had been longing and lusting to own and also bought on impulse some flannel fabric to make "the boo" some lounging pants to wear around the house.... "aint I so domesticated?" lol but also found this denim material on clearance for $2:16, yellow cotton fabric half a yard $0.65....
This is what I came up with at the house.... some left over tulle at the house... imaginative mind in over time.... lol
OK... so I have come to see myself a a terrible blogger... too much time to sew no time to blog... Then there is a problem of my photographer refusing to take pictures... Not a good look at all... Working on improving that...
So different approach is to also blog all things fashion... sooooo be on the look out for what is inspiring me this year...
It has been a while since I cut into some fabric and out stitches together... The thing is I was working on an infinity scarf that I will post sometime today and a scarf for my fiance. I made him one and he really loves it... not infinity scarf but a regular one... So I am working on a fuschia pink dress... I am already inlove with it... i think it will be one of the greats!!! lol.... wish me luck
So this was Thursday afternoon around 3pm I realized I had nothing fun to wear for church. I always pleasure myself in wearing new clothes on New Year's eve... It is something i TAKE PRIDE IN "ENTER THE NEW YEAR WITH A NEW OUTFIT LOOKING MY BEST". Last year 2009 I came up short. I didn't feel like leaving the house because it was Ice rain outside I hate to drive in that condition. What to do what to do... decided to go through my fabrics see what I can work with. Viola! Came across this beautiful purple fabric I bought in Malawi like 4 years ago or so and I have some purple chiffon i recently bought... Honestly i would have loved to add embellishments but i had nothing and i was not about to brave that rain just to get some... Had to make do with what I had... Hope you like it...
The back I wanted it to also have a chiffon overlay but I didn't want it hanging all over like the front...
